For this post I’ll talk a little on a subject that I am familiar with, cryptography, in relation to an activity that I used to participate in.
Nintendo 3DS
After picking up a Nintendo 3DS at laucnh, I though I’d share my initial impressions on the hardware of the device.
The 3D effect that is created without the use of glasses is quite impressive so far, and thanks to the adjustable settings can be changed to suit the person at will.
The higher resolution screen is quite impressive, although it gives regular DS games a rather dull look, as it can either display them at the higher blurry resolution of the 3DS screen by default, or a smaller crisper one to match the DS’s native resolution. Hopefully Nintendo can add more options at a later date via firmware upgrades.
The new “Circle Pad” is quite similar to the PSP’s analog nub, and makes gameplay more efficient as players are no longer forced to use the dpad.
More impressions to follow after I get more familar with the device.
Google to Pull the Killswitch on Infected Apps
After the “Droid Dream” malware that hit the Android app store just last week, Google are now patching up the security hole that allowed it tp operate, as well as using one of their last resort measures in order to remotely disable all existing copies out there.
With so much buzz about the iPhone vs Android war going on lately, it’s good to see that the guys at the top still care about keeping the platforms as clean of malware as possible.

On the PS3 and Security
